The Charlotte Medical, Dental and Pharmaceutical Association (d.b.a. The Charlotte Medical Society) was organized by Dr. Allen Wyche in 1900. Its founding member realized the importance of mutual support among minority health professionals in promoting excellence in health care for Charlotteans of color. Over the past one hundred years, the society has promoted the expansion of excellence in health care services to the minority community through professional education and public service. Charlotte Medical Society members played crucial roles in helping minority patients and professionals gain access to segregated hospitals in Charlotte during the 1950's and 60's.
The CMDPA is involved in multiple events through out the year. We have strong community partnerships with Johnson C. Smith University, multiple Charlotte area churches, and numerous local African-American owned businesses.
